Fisher-Price's recalled Rock ‘n Play Sleepers have now been linked to 100 fatalities, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Monday. The sleeper was first recall ed in April 2019 following reports that infants had rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, "or under other circumstances," the commission said. Some 4.7 million units were affected. Since the initial recall , approximately 70 additional fatalities have been reported, the commission said. "Fisher-Price notes that in some of the reports, it has been unable to confirm the circumstances of the incidents or that the product was a Rock ‘n Play Sleeper," the Commission said. Target issued a recall for more than 200,000 weighted blankets after two children in North Carolina died from asphyxiation, federal officials and Target said Thursday. The girls, ages 4 and 6, died in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, after they were trapped in the blankets in April, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release. Target urged people who bought the 6-pound Pillowfort brand blankets to stop using them immediately and contact the store for a refund. “A young child can become entrapped by unzipping and entering the blanket , posing a risk of death by asphyxiation,” the company said. "We send our deepest condolences and support to the family that lost their loved ones," a company spokesperson added in an emailed statement. A self-described "natural" baby product company is recalling 10,500 of its stainless steel bottles and cups for toddlers that pose a risk of lead poisoning, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday. Three of Green Sprouts' products are subject to the recall: its 6 ounce stainless steel sippy cup, its 8 ounce stainless steel straw bottle, which have the tracking numbers 29218V06985 or 35719V06985, and its 6 ounce stainless steel sip and straw cup, which has the tracking number 33020V06985, according to the recall notice. The tracking numbers are printed on the bottom of the bottles, which were sold in aqua, pink, green and navy colors, according to the notice. Tesla is voluntarily recall ing 40,168 2017-2021 Model S and Model X vehicles that could experience a loss of power steering assist, according to a Nov. 1 filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made public on Tuesday. The recall requires a software update that’s pushed to the cars over the air. An October firmware release caused some vehicles to lose power steering when driving over bumpy roads and potholes. An estimated 1% of recalled vehicles have the defect, according to the release. “Reduced or lost power steering assist does not affect steering control, but could require greater steering effort from the driver, particularly at low speeds,” the administration said.
